Alternative Ageing

They do say that Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year, however, it is also the busiest. I haven't had one moment to myself for what seems like months. But, then again i'm not complaining, i did choose to do all the things i am doing. I'm in my local pantomime as Tommy the Cat (Dick Whittington), I've been super busy choreography for PW Performers brand new elite dance group, also i'm making my way through a mountain pile of college coursework, plus loads more sporty evening activities. You could say i'm knackered  *sobs hysterically to self*

Anyway, moving on to the good stuff. My dear colourful friend Suzi, also known as 'Alternative Ageing' (blogger) invited me to her little birthday Christmas do this Sunday. It was a lovely evening filled with directors, make-up artists, fashion designers,  photographers the lot - conversation was easy to come by. Being an ex radio presenter and new acclaimed blogger Suzi has a lot of friends ;) I thought i'd share with you a few snippet of her little 'do', i hope you enjoy, just as much as i did!

For those of you in the older generation or just simply love vintage fashion and nutritious snacks make sure to check out Suzi's blog by clicking the link below.

Who's ready for Christmas then?

Stories Behind My Instagram Posts

I've been feeling rather autumnal lately those of you who check my instagram will already know this. Autumn is my absolute favourite season. Who couldn't love the warm winter jumper weather, the boots that walk across browns and yellows leaves, and even the amazing sun sets that make all of our Instagram pages 10 times more amazing. So anyway i thought i'd talk about what my photo's on my Instagram mean (the back stories basically).

1. Wyevale is a garden centre based in Brighton where they sell... well... garden stuff. But, a few days ago Wyevale had their Christmas special event in which my family and i were invited to. It was super cute, we all got mulled wine and mince pies, there was Christmas decoration everywhere you looked, it just felt a tingle of what's to come in December. When i was a child we all used to go up there and see Santa Claus and he'd give me a present but i wasn't aloud to open it until Christmas, it was always something silly like a colouring book or pencil case but the whole anticipation was always worth it. I used to and still love going up there.

2. The cat. Everyone knows i'm obsessed with cats and at one point i did have 7. Including this little munchkin, she was given to my Uncle to look after as he too is cat obsessed. However the poor little thing had a bit of an accident leaving her with a broken leg. My Uncle and his girlfriend had planned this half term to go away for a few days so he gave Sammy (the kitten) to us to look after. It's been quite a week, she's not aloud to jump off of things so of course she does, she has to sleep in a collar in which she can slip out from, and her bed for the past week has been a baby cot. She is a much loved kitty so the idea of having her put down was never an option. She is recovering well and has been an absolute sweetheart, but i am knackered now.

3. The selfie. I've been using my Naked Basic Palette to complete my make-up for this Autumn. Any eyeshadow that is purple, brown, orange, or neutral is a perfect finish for your look. You can find great tutorials on Youtube o if you're a little wobbly on how to do your eyes check some out. The tricks is to add a little at a time.

4. Lastly, the sunset. I took this on my way to work the other day at Hollingbury, i just thought the colours complemented my theme on Instagram and expressed the autumnal weather in one. All my photo's are taken on my Apple Iphone 5 and edited with the instagram filters. Just fiddle about with the brightness and hey presto you've got yourself a worthy insta pic.

Hope you all have a happy Halloween.

Lady in Red

Quick update of what i've been up too recently. So i've been so busy with all sorts of work so i've had no time to actually sit down and look at my blog for ages. But it's ok i'm back and everything is settling now. I've started college too, i absolutely love the feeling of adulthood, i'm paying for travel, food, stationary. I know that doesn't sound appealing and actually it's taken a large chunk of money out of my bank account... but, i love the feeling of being independent. It's not everyone's cup of tea and can be really daunting but you get used to it, it's not so bad. It also doesn't mean you have to leave your family. I still like having cuddles and chats with my mum so nothing much has changed.

Anyway, this weekend my Grandma, Mum and I took a trip up to London to see Christopher Raeburn's fashion week collection. Yes, i was part of London fashion week! It's always been a dream to see a professional catwalk and even though i didn't get to see Kendall Jenner or Cara Delevinge i still had the most amazing experience. This was also one of the shows where you could go and buy all the new designer trends for half price. Which is wear i saw this gorgeous vixen red coat! I wasn't the cheapest of coats, in fact i'm going to have to work hard  to pay myself back. My account is probably screaming at me:  'whhyyyyyyy'. But it was worth it. I would certainly recommend going to one of London Fashion weeks events, because even if you don't like it, you do get some lovely free gifts ;) I know this has been short and very 'to the point' but unfortunately it was just a quick update i shall blog about fashion week later on in the week.

Hope you're all well

Singapore

So you've probably noticed i haven't blogged for what seems like ages, well that is because my family and I decided to take a little trip to see my cousins in Singapore. If you keep updated with my Instagram you'll already know how much of an amazing time i had. I thought i'd share with you few of my favourite moments.

The first day we got there after a 13 hours flight was pretty relaxed we did nothing but nap and swim. The next morning we went to Singapore's Bird Park where i came up close with this fella who was very keen on getting his photo taken. If i could have taken any bird home it would have been this guy and Chanel the Toucan (who i don't have a photo of).

A few days in we went to the most beautiful place called 'Gardens By The Bay', filled to the brim with exotic flowers, cacti, and this giant waterfall. This photo doesn't really show you the height very well but take my word for it, it was huge. Singapore can reach a temperature of 40 degrees something, luckily for us the highest it got was 34, but still it was hot and very humid (which means frizzy hair), my point is EVERYWHERE and i mean everywhere has air-con. This place in particular was freezing i had goose pimples the whole time!

My second favourite place in Singapore was the River Safari where they keep Inuku the Polar Bear and 2 of China's world famous giant pandas. It also has this cute little boat ride where you get to be real close to animals such as warthogs, flamingos and even jaguars. I am a big animal lover so these kind of things really appeal to me, plus it's not the right climate to laze about by a pool because you just get so damn hot.

The last thing i want to talk about and my most favourite place out of everything is 'Universal Studios'. Compared to the one in Orlando it's small and manly for kids, but it does have some pretty sick rides. Like this one called Battle-star Galactica Human (red) and Cylon (blue). The first one my cousin, brother and I did was Human which is a sitting down normal one and rather exhilarating. We then went on other rides like 'Mummy', 'Transformers', 'Shrek' and 'Madagascar'. But nothing compared to the Cylon ride. It had been a long day and we really wanted to achieve all the rides possible, this one the most. My brother was on the bridge of throwing up but we still found courage and went on. Now i'm a massive roller-coaster fan i can do all of the Thorpe Park rides in one day and feel nothing but excitement. But even Cylon was... well words cannot describe. Cylon literally threw you about, you went upside down numerous times, up and down at about 80 mph (exaggeration i don't know how fast it was). But if my brother was feeling slightly green to begin with you can imagine how he must have felt after. Still it was one of the best rides i've ever been on. I now need to travel to Orlando and go on there worst ride to compare.

Anyway, i'm back now so expect alot more posts, i'm thinking of doing a fitness post next for those of you interested in the best way to get healthier and fit.

Hope you all had a great summer holiday.

Crazy Cat Lady

Being an owner of 7 cats i feel like 'Crazy Cat Lady' is a suitable name for someone like me. However, we are going to downsize to 4 after a few weeks when the kittens are old enough to be rehomed. They are staying within the family, only because we are big cats lovers so it seemed fitting. My uncle is to have 2 and my Grandma 1, leaving 1 for us too.

Here is a few snaps of what they look like now. Unfortunately one of the cats 'Dave' didn't want his photo to be taken... he was being unsociable.

Shower Faves

Like most people i prefer to shower in the Summer than have hot baths, as they're quick, easy, and refreshing. So i thought i'd share with you some of my favourite products i like to use in and out the shower.
Starting with the Radox 'Coconut Kiss Shower Cream'. Coconut is my absolute favourite smell of all time. I hate the taste of coconut but the smell to me in divine. Apart from the gorgeous smell, the cream itself is very moisturizing and refreshing. Being only £1, the Radox shower creams are ones to try out. Especially if you're planning on going on holiday any time soon as they're smallish and lightweight to carry.

For hair i have been using Garnier Ultimate Blends 'Honey Bee Shampoo, Conditioner' and 'Strength Restorer'. I have my prom soon and i really want my hair to be in sparkly condition so i can flounce about without a care in the world and the worry of my hair looking dry and knotty. Bit of a weird exaggeration but i have been taking extra special care of my hair so it can grow. The honey bee scent is sweet but not overwelming, i am constantly getting compliments on how nice my hair smells which is a big confidence booster sometimes. Garnier do so many ultimate blend shampoo's etc for different hair types so they are defiantly worth checking out as they range for £3-£5 which is rather cheap for a high quality hair products.

My last in the shower product is the Soap and Glory 'Sugar Crush Body Scrub'. The perfect exfoliator for before shaving or removing fake tan. Body scrub are manly for people with what i call 'lizard legs' where your legs are rather scaly. However, the scrub is lightweight so rashes are not a problem, as some scrub can be really rough and if used to hard can hurt. For anyone not familiar with Soap and Glory products, they are very well known for there amazing scents. This scrub is brown sugar, lime, macadamia oil and almond oil. If you don't like sweet scents i wouldn't recommend this, but S&G have many other scented scrubs and products for you to try like the smoothie one.

My last 3 products are my out the shower ones. Firstly i have raved about the Palmers 'Cocoa Butter Moisturizing Oil'. This is specifically designed for people with dry skin, you place it on wet skin (so as soon as you come out the shower) and pat dry with a towel. I originally brought it just for my legs as after shaving they can get pretty sore and dry sometimes, but when i started realising how much the dryness had cleared up i started using it all over. The smell is just incredible, again there's the theme of coconut, but mixed with soybeans to create a light scent.

Sometimes over the oil i will place my Nivea 'Rich Moisturizer' over area's i get the most dry so my legs, arms, mainly area's exposed to constant sun. This is just a simple deep moisturizing, lost lasting cream, with almond oil as it's scent which is lightweight and barely noticeable (if you prefer that kind of thing). In Boots at the moment there is an offer on all Nivea products so this moisturizer is only £5 for a 400ml bottle, which is massive may i just say.

Lastly, my handbag body butter from Body Shop-The Coconut Body Butter. For a small pot like this it's £5 but for a large one is £13. I know Gabby (VelvetGh0st) raves about Body Shop's products as she adores the scents and how well each product works for her skin. I have to agree there scents are amazing. I'd never really ever been shopping there before but i heard great things about there new skincare stuff so popped in and i have been very impressed with it, so decided to go back and purchase a body butter. I thought i'd start small and see how i go. At the moment i am in love with it, i take it everywhere!

Face Masks

So this month i have been obsessed with face masks, I've spent ages searching for the right one for my skin. I've looked at reviews, magazines, instagram. In the end these 3 face masks are the ones i've picked up due to description and packaging.

The first one is Palmer's Purifying Mask which removes impurities, tightens the skin and cools. Out of all the face masks this one is my favourite, as my skin after feels incredibly soft and blemish free. I use this mainly at night when i begin to feel spot like lumps on my face, the next day there gone. Compared to the Superdrug face masks (the other ones in the photo) this one is slightly more pricey only by a pound or so but worth it if you want something that is certain to work on all skin types. Plus the smell is amazing, which is always a bonus. If i'm working or having to do homework i make sure i have this face mask on as i can get very stressed and hate spots so much and the Palmer's formula is kind and gentle on skin, removing black heads and any impurities (does everything it says on the tin)

The 2 Superdrug ones are the Hydrating Vitamin E Moisture Mask and the Exfoliating Superberry Mud Mask. I had heard good things about both masks, however the 'Exfoliating Mask' is definitely NOT for sensitive skin, it left me with a red burning face after. I was so upset because the smell is incredibly (if you like sickly sweet scents) and i was so excited to use it, My mum is now using it a lot though so not a total waste of money. The 'Hydrating Face Mask' however, is just a simple cream which sinks into the skin. I only use this in the morning because i get seriously bad hay-fever at night and sore eyes is the most painful thing so getting dream in the eyes does not help! Luckily the moisture mask is for natural to dry skin so isn't irritating at all.

Do you use face masks? What ones are you favourites?

Photography (Cats&Hobbies)

Growing up with a mum that loves photography and camera's is the main reason i fell in love with photography. Though i don't wish to make a living out of it, i just want to carry on with taking photo's as a hobby.

Having photogenic friends and cats means that taking pictures is easy for me. Also living by the sea has a huge bonus, not everyone has this privilege; i get to witness changes in the sky and reflect it over the sea. It can be really spectacular sometimes. Anyway so more talking i just thought i'd show you some of my photo's, these are ones i took today of my cat, 'Sooki'. I took over 50 but i shall select only my faves.

Enjoy

New Additions to the Family

Anyone who's been reading my blog know that my gorgeous cat 'Agnes' is pregnant. Or was.

Yesterday at 2:30pm Agnes managed to have 4 beautiful and healthy kittens.

It was slightly terrifying the whole experience, i can't even imagine how Agnes must be have been feeling. My boyfriend and i came home from school early after an exam and just sat in the conservatory with her, everything was normal. Until Leigh suddenly went to me "erm what the hells going on with her stomach?". She was contracting majorly! Straight away i realised that today is going to be the day Agnes goes into labor. I rang my uncle in a slight panic as it was only Leigh and I at home and well were not qualified vets, plus my uncle is the guy who seems to know a lot about his animals. He soon came round with my Grandma.

Agnes began having 8 contractions in a row in a single minute. We realised then that during the night Agnes must have started her labor because usually it takes 24 hours for a cat. Anyway, everything just went so fast. It took 2 hours for her to produce the first kitten after peeing on my foot and having her waters break on the floor. The reason it was slightly terrifying was because as soon as the first kitten came out on the carpet and straight away she sat on it, then ignored it, then became horrified by it. It was me who actually had to get the kitten out of the sac (they're born in water sac's btw) by using my hands, then the poor little thing couldn't breathe so i have to clear it's airways, during all this i had a miniature panic attack and had to breathe for a minute before carrying on. There was no way i was letting this kitten die!

Luckily, i managed to wake him up and he was soon yelping at the top of his voice. Which is then when Agnes became scared of it, she had no clue what was happening really. But, it was all fine in the end. She plucked up the courage to pick up her kitten and take it to her nest, where 2, 3, and 4 popped out, literally popped out. She started to lick all of them clean, but soon became very tired. After a bit of Sheba (cat food) she was fully washing each cat and herself included. There are all the size of my hand and very strong, i shall keep you posted on their growth.

If you have any questions you can contact me on my email or instagram
Also names too, i need some good names for them?!

Recent Beauty Buys...

Some recently i've been too busy to do some proper shopping what with exams and everything. However, i have found online shopping to be my perk at the end of the day. These are just some of my favourite product right this second.

Grow Gorgeous End Split End Treatment (LookFantastic.com £18)
i spent ages looking at Grow Gorgeous' stuff because i didn't know what to choose from. I have heard wonders about these products but i'm one of those people that always has to look at a review before buying anything beauty wise- just so i can have the right idea what to expect. Anyway, it was toss up between the Grow Gorgeous Hair Growth Serum and this product. Since my hair has been really dry lately on the ends i thought i would try this product first. I can honestly say i have noticed a visible difference in the ends of my hair, they've become stronger and you can no longer see split ends. Also the length, my hair has grown longe!. I shall post a before and after photo later on this product as i'm doing a month trial. This serum is one of those things that if you don't use it on your hair you can see the difference it can do. My hair would fall out now it doesn't. I would recommend this to anyone struggling with split ends who wants something that actually works for once.

Vitamin E Overnight Serum-in-Oil (£13) and the Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser (£16)
Tea Tree Blemish Gel (£6)
I brought this after watching Velvet Gh0st' (Gabby) 'Body Shop Haul', she too mentioned the new Vitamin C Moisturiser she kept saying how it smelt so good and felt really nice on her skin so i thought why not try it. I love this product, i wish i could put more emphasise on the 'love'. The moisturiser is specialised for Dull, Tired and Grumpy skin- with my exams, i needed this. After one day i saw visible results in my skin. It was glowing! plus with the overnight serum and blemish gel there is no way i am getting stress spots anytime soon. Body Shop are known best for their natural products which are great for your skin, so if your not one for the high street make-up due to any reason try Body Shop.

Urban Decay's Naked Skin Beauty Balm (£23.50), Eyeshadow Primer Potion-Travel Size (£8) and Perversion Mascara-Travel Size (£8)
I cannot get enough of the naked skin beauty balm, i was given it as a gift at Christmas am still using it now. For days when you just don't wanna wear make-up but your going out to do that shopping- this beauty balm is perfect. It is slightly brown tinted but isn't dark on the skin unless you use a lot. It acts like a moisturiser and stays on the skin all day. I have recently brought another one for my holiday in August because i doubt i will be wearing much make-up but since this product has SPF 20 i shall be using this to protect my face.
I've wanted to try the eyeshadow primer for some time now. I always find that any eye shadow i use seems to leave lines on my eyelid and lose it's pigment. This primer however stops that completely. I only brought a travel size one because even though it small it lasts for ages.
I don't really know what to think of the Perversion Mascara, I like it because it does add some much volume and length. But during the day it seems to just come off, it doesn't flake , it just gets thinner. I'm not sure how to explain it. I wanted to try it though, that's why i brought the travel size one instead of the large one. I don't think i will be purchasing this product again only because i don't think it's worth the money it is. I would much rather spend £19 on something that works really well.

Bare Minerals Prime Time Original (£22)
I shall get to the point with this product. On the nights i wear this primer nothing, make-up wise, has come off my face- it does everything it says on the tin, literally. However, for the price it is i would not say it's worth it. There are cheaper drug store primers that are just as much the same as this product.

Yves Saint Laurent- Rouge Volupte Shine in the Shade 31
This is a very light pinky glossy shade perfect for everyday girly looks. I would only recommend this product if you have found it in a sale as it can be quite pricey. But i know for a fact Debenhams do a lot of sales on the YSL lipsticks and glosses so keep an eye out.

New Look's Pure Colour Lipstick in the Shade 74 Deep Pink (£3.99)
New look have recently brought out their new make-up section. For anyone that has been reading my recently blog you'll know how much i have been loving New Look. Now i am so impressed by their lipsticks. I always don't know what to think when i see shop brands because i always worry that their products aren't going to be nice, plus my skins quite sensitive so i have to be careful with what i buy. But their lipsticks are so creamy and apply so nicely. So get down to New Look never been more surprised by them.

Flower Pen's are from Tiger £1

What are your recent beauty buys?

My Natural Everyday Look...

So i thought i'd do my natural everyday look for you using a range of drug store make up and high end make up. This is basically my normal routine in the morning before i go to work or school so yeah... enjoy!

I start off using washing my face with warm water and a flannel then applying The Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Moisturiser. This is newish i brought this in Debenams not long ago because i needed a new one as my skin was becoming dry. Plus this was on offer at £45 down to £15 to why not? i can honestly say it does everything it says. There is a visible difference, my skin is soft and definitely not dry at all! Only problem is this moisturiser has no SPF. Usually i would be like 'oh hell no' but my primer and foundation have SPF so i'm okay, i won't burn in the sun. Phew!
For my eye cream i use the It's Potent eye cream from Benefit. Its just a simple moisturiser and the one i use is only a sample, but when i run out i'm probably gonna go buy the bigger, normal one.
Okay, next i use the Urban Decay Naked Skin Beauty Balm Broad Spectrum SPF 20. I love this product it'll be in every favourite post this year i think. It's a tinted primer which i put on my cheeks and T-section before my foundation or without sometimes if i'm tanned.
My Foundation in another favourite, it's the Lancome Miracle Air De Teint in the shade 005 (SPF 15 if your interested). This is a really light shade for the winter so it's not thick. But when i am pale it covers blemishes well and goes on so nicely, but only downside doesn't give me much colour which is why i still have to use bronzer. This is quite a pricey foundation but for me it works so nicely on my skin in the winter. So if you're a red head or just generally pale then you should check this foundation out!
My concealer is the Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat in the shade 2. I just put this under my eyes and around my nose where i get really red blemishes. I know the Collection concealer in the shade 1 is a good double for this if you don't want to spend a lot of a concealer.
The powder i use is MAC Studio Fix in the shade NC35. I brought this on holiday so it's quite dark but recently i've only been using it lightly on my cheeks and nose area to reduce shininess.
To contour i use L'Oreal Glam Bronze. I also brought this on holiday and love it so much. It comes with a small shimmery highlight on the side which i mix with the bronzer to give a shimmery effect
For my eyebrows, i have been using this product since forever. It's part of the Bransus Beauty Products it's just a eyebrow palette which came with stencils to draw on your eyebrows and a angled brush (i do not use the stencils i just fill my eyebrows in which the middle shade which is a lightish brown) . I brought this when i was shopping in London in the Ideal Home Show so i have no clue if you can buy these products in the high street. But you might be able to get good doubles, i know Sleek do a nice eyebrow palette.
For blush i use the Topshop Creme Blush in the shade 'Flush' i think. I just rubbed a little on the apples of my cheeks for a bit of colour.
On a daily basis i use The Soap and Glory SuperCat liquid eyeliner. It is just like a felt tip pen and glides ever so nicely across you eye. I just do a little thin line over my eye then add a small cat like flick.
Now the mascara i use is the Soap and Glory Think&Fast super volume mascara. Now you are probably wondering why i use a different lid. This is because the soap and glory mascara applicator was so bad to use, it was too big for my lashes and nothing went on. So i swapped the lid of a recently run out mascara with the Soap&Glory one so now the applicator is smaller and a little bit longer. Which means only after one application my eye lashes are amazingly long. So Soap&Glory a pointer, your mascara is amazing, your applicator need to be changed!
Excuse the phone in the background, the lip products wouldn't stay upright. Lastly, for my lips i simply moisturise with the EOS vinilla scented lip balm from Urban Outfitters. Then use the No7 High Shine lip gloss in the colour 'Coral Kiss' which a  peachy shade. For a natural look it just gives your lips a bit of a shine.Sometimes i also put The MaxFactor lip liner on with it in the shade 'Nudeish' which a really gives a really nice nude shine effect
So, this is what my make up created. Just a real simple natural look for everyday uses.

I'm Back..

Right Guys I'm back.. *starts singing Eminem song*

Okay so again I've been away and posted nothing but instagram things. Yes I know I'm awful at posting every week. However i have a reason why. Warning you now be ready for some emotional and personal parts of this explanation.

(back story) When i was a kid, my mum worked a lot in London, so i never really saw her apart from occasional weekend or late at night. I basically grew up with my grandparents. They were the ones who took me to school and picked me up, took me to dance every week, fed me etc... I'm not saying i didn't have a good relationship with my mum, i did, i just didn't see her as much as i saw them.

Growing up my dad wasn't around, Grandpa was like a father to me.It was him who taught me to look right and left when crossing the street,  he was the man who introduced me to chips, pringles and ASDA. Bit weird but hey a girl has to know these things. I can always remember hearing him say 'quick march' before crossing roads even if it wasn't a busy road he would just say it. My grandparents took me to my first few pantomimes and musicals this is what made me fall in love with theatre and drama.

Unfortunately,  my Grandpa had a lot of things wrong with him. He was a smoker years ago which resulted in him having bad lungs. He had arthritis, and suffered a heart attack a few years back. However, at no point did he give up fighting. He loved his family so because of that lead his life all the way to 81.

My Grandpa passed away on the 4th of January 2015.

He made his 81st Birthday on New Years Day and spent his last few moments with the whole family around him (literally under the same roof) even though he struggled to open his presents, everyone could see the happiness on his face. It's probably weird to say but it was the right time for him to go, we were all there to support my Grandma (my other half of the family live in Singapore, they were due to leave back the day of his death) if we hadn't been she would have had to deal with it alone. I was told that his passing away was so peaceful, he had troubles breathing at the last point but that night he seemed to be breathing perfectly. Luckily he was at home with us instead of being in hospital where he would have been so unhappy, so i guess that makes us lot feel better about things.

It's just been a bit hard for me, losing someone who i was so close too in a matter of seconds. I didn't celebrate my birthday which was on the 6th because it didn't feel right, knowing he wasn't there. For a while i haven't been very sociable. But i'm getting there, my whole family are so grateful for the support and lovingness people have given us.

I just hope this explains a few things.
This is Grandpa on his 80th Birthday- Last year
